For this project, me and two friends were challenged to make a functioning chair out of 2 2mx2m sheets of cardboard.
For our concept we wanted to appeal to college students living in overly expensive dorms. We acknowledged that most students cant really afford to spend alot of money on new furniture, so we wanted to make a cheap, easy to assemble and comfortable option out of cardboard.
We started our process with small scale modeling.
After this, we moved onto making a full scale attempt to see whether it would function as intended.
The chair worked! but it was still very rough and rugged, and had some problems that needed fixing. so we went back to the studio and got to work on a tighter and more polished design.
We decided to bring the final product to our friends apartment to see how it would work in a student environment. Often students apartments are quite small and tight to move around in. We wanted to make sure that our chair would fit in nicely to this kind of area.
